Critique, comment constructively on detailed designs for building plans, construction type, foundation design, specifications, earthworks and civil construction works
Apply geo-technical design parameters for the determination of earthworks and foundations for different soil- and environmental conditions
To address all general geo-technical issues that have implications for foundation integrity
To interpret Nigerian, Group and Industry design and construction standards in the design criteria and specifications for steel and concrete structures
To participate in the development of construction specifications for earthworks, excavation, road works, foundations, ground water control, soil and groundwater cleanup, formwork, reinforcement, concreting, drainage systems for primary treatment facilities
To manage all related aspects of HSE during construction, and ensure full adherence by Contractors to all company HSE and technical standards and procedures
To address HEMP in all aspects of the business and provide input into HSE Cases as required
To ensure close out of all civil Audit action and punch list items within the project
To contribute to Project Execution Plans and contracting strategies
To ensure full compliance to the contract as per the Project Management Guide. Review and evaluate change proposals for the specifications
To ensure good records of the design trail are maintained and as-built drawings are prepared for all earthworks foundations and buildings, including building services
To maintain frequent contact with other civil engineers in company, including corporate engineering in order to disseminate best practices, ensure synergy of facilities, work practices and quality control systems
Review & approval of Contractors site execution proposals, supervision of the site works
QUALIFICATIONS:
Degree in Civil Engineering
8 to 10 years of experience, both design and construction, in civil engineering; roads, foundations, reinforced concrete construction, structural steelwork, buildings, building services
Knowledge of International Civil Engineering standards
Familiarity with Operational requirements is considered an advantage
Well-developed personal relations and communications skills are paramount for success
Inter-cultural awareness, leadership and team integration abilities are a requirement
Ability to effectively function in a multi-discipline, multi-ethnic environment
Good interpersonal and negotiating skills, know-how of planning, economics and auditing
